Y5 Trip to We are Curious – 26th November 2025

Dear Parents

As part of our science curriculum in Term 2, we are excited to inform you that we will be taking the children on an educational trip to ‘We The Curious’ in Bristol. This visit has been planned to support and enhance the children’s learning in our science topic, ‘Earth and Space’ and will happen during normal school hours.

During the trip, the children will take part in an engaging Earth, Sun, and Moon workshop, experience the Planetarium 3D Solar system show and have time to explore the wide range of interactive exhibits on offer. These experiences have been carefully chosen to align with the key objectives within the National Curriculum for science and will help to consolidate and deepen the children’s understanding through hands-on, practical learning.

Please ensure your child brings in a packed lunch with a drink in a named rucksack (no cans or bottles).  Please also cancel your child’s hot dinner, by Friday 21st November’25. If your child is entitled to free school meals and you would like us to provide them with a packed lunch, please inform your class teacher as soon as possible.

Children will need to wear their normal school uniform and for security reasons, children MUST be wearing a St Francis jumper, cardigan or fleece at all times.  Any medication your child has in school will be taken with us.

The voluntary contribution towards the cost of this trip will be £24.75 per child, this covers entrance costs, coach travel and 2 workshops.  Please contact the school office if you have any issues regarding payment, which will be dealt with confidentially.  Please also see our school website for details of our charging policy.

Please give consent and make final payment via PA Connect, Payments, by 11th November 2025.  If your child is registered as Pupil Premium, the cost is covered by the school but you will still need to check out to show consent.

Kind regards,

The Year 5 Team.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We appreciate that it is not exactly what you will want to be thinking about at this time of year, but once again, we are planning another Christmas Pantomime trip for next years 4, 5 and 6 classes at the Wyvern Theatre, this year it’s Sleeping Beauty. The trip has been arranged for Tuesday 16th December 2025 for the 10.30am performance. A coach will collect the children after registration and transport them to the Wyvern. Lunch will be eaten on return to school at about 1.30pm. The non-refundable cost of this trip will be £20 per child, this will include an ice cream and drink for each child (please do not send any other sweets/snacks in with your child). Payment can be made via PA Connect. As this is a non-curricular trip, ALL children will need to make payment to attend. Please contact the School Office if you have any issues regarding payment, which will be dealt with confidentially. Please also see our school website for details of our charging policy. The deadline for securing a ticket is Monday 30th June’25. We appreciate this seems very early for a Christmas performance but this is to take advantage of the ‘Early Bird Offer’ we have secured. Unfortunately, we are unable to purchase tickets after this date. Please give consent and pay the full amount via PA Connect by this date. If you do not wish your child to participate in this visit, email us at: accounts@stfrancis.swindon.sch.uk but please be aware that your child must still attend school on that day and activities will be planned for them. Thank You Year 4,5 & 6 Class Teachers
