Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Year 2 is a fun, exciting, and busy time for our children. Throughout the year, your child will enjoy a wide range of engaging activities linked to our six key topics: Exploring UgandaRosa ParksPole to PoleThe Great Fire of LondonRainforests, and Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Children will have the opportunity to take part in memorable experiences such as African drumming, meeting animals from the rainforest, designing and building their own fire engines, and visiting the local STEAM museum to explore the incredible inventions of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

We also make great use of the forest to enrich learning across the curriculum, helping children connect with nature and apply their knowledge in creative ways.

To stay informed, please keep an eye on Seesaw, our social media platforms, and the topic and homework webs.

PE days are Tuesday and Thursday, covering both indoor and outdoor sessions—please ensure your child comes prepared for both.

Y2 Trip to STEAM 15th June 2026

Dear Parents,

As part of our topic on, “Isambard Kingdom Brunel”, we have arranged a trip to the STEAM museum in Swindon on Monday 15th June 2026 for our Year 2 classes. We will spend a whole day at the museum returning by the end of school.

School can provide packed lunches for all, if you would like us to prepare one, please book a hot dinner on PA Connect by Wednesday 10th June 26. We will not be able to provide any packed lunches if booked after this date.  If you would prefer to provide your own lunch, please put it in a named, disposable bag (no glass bottles or fizzy drinks) and cancel your child’s hot dinner for that day on PA Connect by 10th June’26.  All children will need to bring a bottle of water to drink throughout the day in a small rucksack and wear normal school uniform with a St Francis jumper, cardigan or fleece.  Any medication your child has in school will be taken with us.

The voluntary contribution towards the cost of the trip will be £15.95 per child.  This includes coach transport, entrance and an interactive workshop.  Unfortunately, this trip will need to be cancelled if we do not receive enough contributions to cover the cost of the visit. Please contact the school office if you have any issues regarding payment, which will be dealt with confidentially.  Please also see the school website for details of our charging policy.

Please give consent and make final payment via PA Connect by 7th June 2026. If your child is registered Pupil Premium, the trip costs are covered but please still check out where consent can be given.
